Today has been a rather musical day.
Tyler played his bagpipes this morning at the funeral of a neighbor’s mother. For those who love the pipes, there is nothing more moving and providing this service has been a good ministry for him although this can have a tendency to keep one quite busy if you let it. He has mostly played for funerals and weddings although he gets requests to play in church services, parades and a few community events.
Matthew played the piano this afternoon for an elderly couple in a local assisted living center. These dear friends were neighbors of ours for many, many years. They have loved and watched the boys grow up over the years and are quite proud when they come to visit. I’m not sure who gets the largest blessing though, the giver or the receiver.
Between Matthew’s violin and piano and Tyler’s pipes, concertina, guitar and accordion, the house is always filled with our music of one sort or another – all produced in the home and not tuned into on the radio. What a blessing, especially for a couple of parents who can hardly hum a tune.

Yes, what a blessing! And I LOVE the bagpipes. My family is Scotch-Irish, in fact my parents are in Ireland right now, on vacation. :-D

Aye, your laddies must bless your hearts! What a great encouragement. I have come to really enjoy the piano over the last several years, as my daughter Susan has learned to play it well. Being a McConnell-Campbell, the pipes get my blood flowing and put a spring to my step, makes me want to march into the world pressing the crown rights of Christ! May Matthew and Tyler find the grace and perseverance of Christ to keep advancing His kingdom.
