I’ve just returned from the woodpile with a heart full of gratitude to our good God. Our supply will definitely last us the rest of the season. All winter long I have kept a wary eye on our firewood pile. Every day I have returned like clockwork to chop and bring in the next day’s supply – always wondering if it was going to last. That is until today as I looked at that pitifully small pile of wood – and I knew.

Now, for some, running a little short just means that it’s time to go out to the back 40 and cut down another dead tree or two. But here in southern Idaho, we travel, on the average, 100 miles (one way) to cut our firewood in the Sawtooth National Forest. That whole area is still under 7 feet of snow right now….. and we have no back 40. Add to this, the fact that we opted not to go cut any this last summer because we thought we just might have enough left over from previous years. I was one nervous pup going into the winter as I eyed a pile that was half the size of last year’s.

But the Lord has been faithful to us His children and supplied all we needed.

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:19
