Hello,
My name is Tyler Allen Shropshire. I am the 22 year old, firstborn son of Allen and Janis Shropshire and am committed to preserving, expanding, and passing on my parent’s multi-generational vision of faith and family to the next generation, and to those who follow. As this implies, I hope to one day be married to a godly woman whom I can love, protect, provide for and cherish as Christ does His church and with whom, if God so blesses us, I can raise a family. It is my desire that we live simply and well within our means and to establish a home from which, through which, and in which we can minister to those less fortunate than ourselves, reaching out with love and aid while sharing the gospel with the poor, the sick and the sinners who are generally shunned by those who live a cleaner life. Put simply, I want our home to be visibly and tangibly centered on Christ and the establishment of His kingdom.
I believe that the stewardship of creation is central to the Christian life and am convinced that through the study of His Word, the guidance of my parents, and the training and desire He has brought into my life, God is leading me to pursue the agrarian life of a farmer. When I speak of farming, however, I am not referring to the modern system and philosophy of agribusiness, which I believe is antithetical to a Biblical view of stewardship, and is centered on the rape of the land for short term monetary profit without regard for the obvious consequences in the environment, our health and the future of the coming generations. Rather, in establishing my farm I want it to be centered on sustainability and biodiversity, incorporating both crops and livestock, and using natural (organic) low-impact methods of power and production. It needs to be family friendly and safe for children, and to be focused on meeting needs within the local community and bioregion.
I believe that the Scripture, as contained in the 66 books of the Bible, is the infallible, Spirit-inspired Word of God and that it alone is the complete standard for all of man for all of life. I believe that the God of the Bible is the One True God and that Jesus Christ is His only begotten Son, by whose sacrifice alone man’s sin may be forgiven and through which he is given positive moral merit before the Almighty, receiving the gift of eternal life and entrance into the kingdom of heaven. Only those who have accepted and received Jesus Christ as both their Savior and Lord are granted this gift and are adopted as sons and daughters of God. Aside from Jesus Christ there is no way to heaven.
For those wishing an in depth overview of my doctrinal beliefs, I’m afraid you are likely to be disappointed, because I think it is dangerous to state too many specifics on these matters without the opportunity to discuss and clarify them in person or by going to such lengths as to be mind-numbingly boring. Generally speaking, however, my theological position is that of a Reformed Credo-Baptist something similar to C.H. Spurgeon.
My favorite game is chess. My favorite animals are mules and horses (especially “drafts”) along with goats and dogs. However, I am partial to most farm animals with the possible exception of chickens. My favorite plants are herbs. I enjoy spending my free time reading, writing and playing Irish Traditional Music … among other things!
Tyler
